"Julia Pace Mitchell's talent is bursting at the seams…" –LA Times

"Julia is a master of comedy and drama…"
–Backstage West

The daughter of actress Judy Pace, Julia Pace Mitchell formally arrived on the theatrical scene in early 2003 after earning her Masters of Fine Arts from The National Theatre Conservatory. She received her BFA in Theatre from Howard University. Julia is known for her range having studied both classical theatre at Oxford University and also improvisational comedy with The Groundlings.

In the time since, Ms. Mitchell continued to work steadily, landing a coveted string of roles on stages across the country, from the Oregon Shakespeare Festival to New York's Hip-Hop Theatre Festival. She has worked with Nuyorican Poets Cafe, Arena Stage, The Classical Theater of Harlem, The Kansas City Repertory, and the Arizona Repertory. Julia was also featured in The McCarter Theatre's production of Stick Fly, and shined brightly in The Ohio State Murders at The Duke on New York City's famed 42nd Street, which received a Lucille Lortel Award for Best Revival.

A true artist, Julia has received a number of NAACP Theatre award and nominations for her work as a playwright; for her one-woman show The Interview, and for The Hills Above the Hood - including the Backstage West Awards for Best New Playwright, Best New Director and Best Performance. You also may recognize Julia without her shirt (!) in the very popular national "PlaytexFits" Bra commercials and print ad campaign.

In 2009 Julia will be seen in the highly anticipated Fox Searchlight's film Notorious, a biopic of the late Biggie Smalls, and will guest star on Cold Case on CBS.

Ms. Mitchell leads an exciting bi-coastal life, because though she loves everything about NYC (except the winter), she remains a California girl at heart.
